Crowned ‘Water Project of the Year’ at the Global Water Awards 2009 the Deep Tunnel Sewerage System (DTSS) in Singapore was selected as the water project with the most significant contribution to water technology and environmental protection. The Global Water Awards is widely recognized as one of the most prestigious symbols of achievement in the global water industry. The heart of the DTSS, the Changi Water Reclamation Plant, capable of treating 800,000 cubic meters of used water a day, constructed at a depth of 60 meters below sea level was lined with the Linabond® SP Mastic system satisfying the highest requirements of the project for the structures constantly used in sewage meeting Singapore’s used water needs for the next 100 years. Many hydrogen sulfide protective lining systems were examined and considered for the Changi Plant. This process of evaluation confirmed that the design engineers had made a very wise choice in specifying Linabond® for the Changi Plant - especially considering the below sea level installation of the Protective Lining System. The total size of Linabond® Lining System installed over the 2003 to 2008 period made up almost 185 thousand sq meters.
